Day 10: Why Dreaming Big is Vital for Self-Care

While being content with the life you have is good, it can lead to complacency. The cure for complacency? Dreaming big! Read on to find out why.

Today’s affirmation: I make my dreams come true. 

I think the first step on any self-discovery journey is learning contentment. Being totally 100% okay with where you are in your life right now. Learning to not only accept where you’re at, but being pleased with it is a big step.

But once you’re there, I’ve found that contentment can sometimes lead to complacency.

You’re not striving to do more, learn more, make more, be more.

You’re just stagnant, hanging out in your same life the way it was 3 months or 3 years ago.

And when we’re feeling stagnant, stuck, then we can begin to feel moody and depressed, feeling like our life has no meaning because we’re not growing as a person.

It doesn’t matter how old you get or how content you are, we all need to be constantly growing.

So whats the cure for complacency?

Dreaming big, baby!

Thinking of a life where we’re smarter or earning more money or volunteering more can be so good for our own self-care.

Dreaming gives us hope. It reminds us that we don’t have to stay where we are.

Dreaming makes us happier. Who doesn’t get a smile on their face imagining all the things they could do if they won the lottery?

Dreaming big shows us who we are and who we want to be. If you daydream often enough you’ll notice that the things you’re doing in your dreams — the work you’re doing or the places you’re going — are your heart’s desires. And if you know what your heart wants from life you can take steps to go after it.

Be content with your life, yes, but don’t allow your contentment to mutate into complacency. Keep growing keep dreaming.
