Today’s affirmation: I am willing to change.
When you decide to radically change your life you end up with quite a hefty “to do” list. For me, it looks like this:
- Yoga 20-30 minutes a day
- 30 minutes of cardio a few times a week
- Read the Word every day
- Read one chapter a day from a non-fiction book
- Read one chapter a day from a fiction book
- Meditate 5-10 minutes a day
- Affirmations and visualization exercises every day
And then I have mental lists for my work and my family and my home. Such as:
- Spend at least 30 minutes of quality time with each kid
- Clean one room of the house
- Vacuum daily
- Write new post, create both Facebook and Pinterest images, write up quality SEO copy…
I know that I’m aiming high. I know that right now it feels like everything I’ve ever needed or wanted to do in life got shaken up in a bottle and is now exploding all over me.
Rather than getting overwhelmed, though, I’m choosing to embrace it. To give that explosion of wants and needs a big ole hug.
Now is the time to be super duper diligent about doing these tasks as consistently as I can because I don’t wanna get to February and all of a sudden stop doing this whole thing.
I want what I have now as “daily to dos” to cement themselves as just natural parts of my day like drinking coffee and brushing my hair.
Right now, this moment when I’m excited about his new life I’m living, is the time to be all over my to do lists so much so that in a couple weeks and then a couple months these actions won’t be things to cross off, but just things I do.
And day two is already throwing me some curve balls as I was up most of the night with my daughter who has an ear infection. She’s asleep now and I wanted to go back to sleep too, but I can’t. Because my long-term goals and the life I want to live is more important than a power nap.
Here I come, 2018. Get outta my way.
