7 Practical Self-Care Items for Moms

Let’s talk self-care for moms. Y’all know I’m all about moms taking care of themselves. As a mom of two myself, I know how hard it is to find the time and have the energy to actually do anything for myself. And while self-care is all the rage these days, so many of the recommended products are face masks and bath bombs and that ain’t my jam.

Don’t get me wrong. There’s a time and a place for that, but I need more practical items.

I don’t need to smell nice to feel like I’m taking care of myself. I need items that will help me feel like I’m in charge of my life, that I’m living life instead of surviving it, ya know?

So this is the first post in the Things Thursday series. Every Thursday I’ll bring you a new list of practical self-care items for moms to help you, an awesome mom, take care of YOU.

Because you deserve it.

You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero

One of my all-time favorite books. With summer approaching it’s easy to use all your time into taking care of the kids and giving them an awesome vacation. While that’s admirable, you’ll find yourself burned out by the 4th of July. This book has some woo-woo to it, but it also has a lot of down to earth, practical, self-care ideas to help you become a better you.

Jeoxi Jade Roller Massager

I’ll be honest and admit I know nothing about these things, but they’re supposed to help you relax by rubbing it all over your face. And I think it’ll fit in your purse so if nothing else it could be a fun thing to give your kids to make them quiet down in the back seat while you’re in the McDonald’s drive-thru.

Self-Care Affirmation Cards

Science has proven that what we say about ourselves has drastic effects on how we feel about ourselves. Saying the affirmations on these cards out loud (bonus points for doing it while looking in the mirror) will absolutely help you improve how you see yourself and your life. I try to do daily affirmations myself and the act really is life changing. I know it sounds weird, but give it a go!

Minimalist Day Planner 2018

Alright I know it’s almost June and this is a weird time to buy a planner for the year but hear me out. One of the most practical things you can do for taking care of yourself is to write down all the things you need to do. When to pay your bills, when to schedule dental appointments, when to start getting your tax stuff ready, when your kid’s birthdays are. And this is a minimalist planner so it’s not overwhelming with quotes and pictures and whatnot. Just the facts, ma’am.

World’s Greatest Mom tank

There seems to be this “world’s okayest mom” trend and let’s just knock that off right now, shall we? NO ONE can raise your children better than you. Wear this tank with pride, mama. Comes in 8 colors.

Girl Power Candle

IF you like candles, this one’s pretty cool. I wish it said “mom power” instead, but I like the gist of it. And if not for you, what about giving it to your best girlfriend to remind her that you both are strong and awesome women.

Portable Phone Charger

Can we all agree the worst thing in the world is running errands, taking your kid somewhere, needing to make a call and having your phone die on you? THE. WORST. This is the kind of practical self-care item I’m talking about. Something that makes your life easier and puts your mind at ease. Toss it in your purse and never be faced with a dead battery again.
